Sustainable Connections

#GSVMemberMonday Feature

Since 2002, Sustainable Connections has recognized the need to identify and remove the barriers that have historically oppressed specific populations. As a non-profit organization, their regional work has provided valuable connections for individuals and organizations alike in Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, and Island counties for over 20 years. Their team continues to provide earth-awareness and outreach programs that promote sourcing locally, farm-to-table, green building, energy efficiency, and waste reduction for all.

In 2018, The Sustainable Connections’ Food & Farming Program and Cloud Mountain Farm Center in Everson, WA joined forces. Today, both organizations continue to work together to develop a vibrant and sustainable local food economy by supporting local farmers, generating new market opportunities, and always encouraging their community to always Eat Local First.

We recently asked the team at Sustainable Connections what their favorite #SkagitGrown fruit and/or vegetable was, and here’s what they said:

Our favorite vegetables are alliums! They’re so versatile and serve as the base of almost every delicious recipe. The smell of alliums cooking makes our foodie hearts swoon and we’re so happy that we can buy them right here in the Skagit Valley!

Sustainable Connections’ mission is to create thriving communities through innovative ideas, collaboration, and action. As a Founding Member and supporter of the Genuine Skagit Valley program, we are inspired by all that they have achieved so far. Thank you for supporting GSV, Sustainable Connections!
