From tote to table, celebrate Skagit’s farm stands this July and August. Discover the diverse and bountiful crops of the Skagit Valley by exploring its produce stands and farm stores. Meet your farmer and connect to an exceptional agricultural community growing over 80 commercial crops. All the while, enjoy the Skagit countryside with unsurpassed vistas of the San Juan Islands, Olympic Coast Range, and North Cascades.

Farmstand Fresh highlights farm stands from across the valley in July and August. Visitors gain access to local chefs offering personal Zoom calls filled with tips and tricks on cooking and preserving. Shoppers at participating stands can sign up for a free 15-minute Zoom session provided by a local chef. Plus, they can enter to win gift certificates to Skagit Valley restaurants. Genuine Skagit Valley encourages our visitors and locals alike to explore farms, savor the fresh flavors of Skagit, and connect to a local chef for some virtual kitchen inspiration!

Greet the growers and taste the bounty when visiting Skagit’s farm stands

Guests can meet the growers, visit the fields and farms, and bite into summertime (such as sun-sweetened berries, red ripe Heirloom tomatoes, crunchy carrots, and scratch-baked goods.) Visit any one of the 17 participating farm stands listed below. There, shoppers can sign up for a free 15-minute Chef Chat. They can also enter to win $25 gift certificates to participating restaurants.

Farm Stands

Within walking distance of downtown Mount Vernon, find owner Laura Ward’s micro-urban farm and flower stand. Bouquets, cut flowers, produce, and plant starts are offered April through September. On just under 1 acre of city land, the growing magic happens!

Located off of Chuckanut Drive near Edison, Blanchard Mountain Farm grows WSDA certified organic vegetables, unique herbs, cut flowers and specialty crops; including many Italian varieties! Owners Linda Versage and Walter Brodie are committed to enhancing their farm’s ecosystem and sharing it with visitors and wildlife.

Certified organic family farm offering year-round produce, locally-made specialty items, and Boldly Grown pepper powders. Regional leaders in radicchio production, owners Amy Frye and Jacob Slosberg grow numerous varieties. Located in Bow, Washington off of Chuckanut Drive.

Established in 1947, Bow Hill Blueberries is the oldest family-run blueberry farm in the Skagit Valley. Co-owned by the Matheson and Ranz families, they sell heirloom, Certified Organic blueberries and award-winning jams, pickles, juice, powders and more.

All-natural, handcrafted cheese, butter, and dairy from the herd of Holstein, Guernsey, and Jersey cows. Dairy, creamery and farm store owned and operated by Norma Ruiz and family in Bow, Washington.

Harmony Fields produces artisan, farmstead sheeps cheese at their farm and creamery in Bow, WA. In addition to their fresh cheeses, they offer certified animal welfare approved yarn, wool, and meat. Owners Jessica Gigot and Dean Luce also offer a Summer Sheep Cheese CSA.

Wed & Sat 9-6 (Memorial Day – Labor Day)Directions

Located in the heart of the Skagit Valley near the mouth of the Skagit River, Hedlin’s Family Farm is a 3rd and 4th Generation farm growing Organic and conventional produce on 500 acres outside the town of La Conner. Their farm store offers fresh fruit, produce, artisan foods, and freshly baked goods.

Daily 10-6 (May-Oct)Directions

Island Health has partnered with Schuh Farms and Water Tank Bakery to provide produce, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, and honey. Located in the 24th Street courtyard at the hospital, the farm stand is open to hospital employees and the public.

Tue 11-3 (June-Sept)Directions

Margy & Chris Dariotis’s beautiful roadside stand greets visitors and locals alike with organic fresh produce and flowers. They specialize in gourmet varieties of garlic, tomatoes, and peppers, plus various other fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Products vary throughout the season.

Established in 1905, the 5th generation of Mesman Farm continues their family’s organic dairy farming tradition in La Conner, WA. Their farm store hosts organic beef and milk as well as pasture raised pork, lamb, and eggs. Both classic and specialty cuts are regularly stocked. Weekly meal boxes of select cuts are available as well.

Moga Farms Hay and Farmstand is a family owned and operated farm in the La Conner and Edison areas. This hometown seafood market offering fresh shellfish including oysters, clams, shrimp, prawns, plus fish and more.  Owned and operated by the Rodarte family, the shellfish is exclusively grown and harvested in Samish Bay waters. The market is located on Avon Allen Road in Bow, WA, adjacent to their oyster bar and taqueria, The Oyster Shuckers.

Since 1963, Schuh Farms has been providing exceptional produce and quality family experiences on the farm. Their Farm Store features from-scratch baked goods, fresh flowers, berries, produce and more. This family farm is a Skagit Valley landmark enjoyed by all generations.

Skiyou Ranch is a 4th generation family farm raising Certified Organic, grass-fed beef. Nestled along the Skagit River in Sedro Woolley, WA, owner Tarie Benson and family are dedicated to raising healthy animals in a sustainable environment for their family and yours.

A small family farm snugged up against the rim of the Skagit Valley. Owners David and Janet Bauermeister produce a variety of heirloom and seasonal favorites, grown for friends, family, and community. In addition to selling wholesale through the Puget Sound Food Hub, The Red Shed Farm has recently opened their farm stand directly off Best Road in La Conner.

Waxwing Farm is a Certified Organic, small scale, diverse vegetable farm. Owners Arielle Luckmann and Taylor Barker focus on providing exceptional produce directly to their Skagit Valley community. Their farm stand is located within walking or biking distance of downtown Mount Vernon.

Kimi Schell
Kimi’s mission is to highlight local farmers and producers through farm dinners and special food events in the beautiful Skagit Valley. She is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and has culinary experience ranging from Michelin star restaurants abroad, working as a yacht chef, cooking for outdoor retreats and more. She is also a former Professor of Nutrition for an MSN program in Portland, OR. Kimi’s absolute favorite meal to share is a seafood boil (she is originally from lowcountry South Carolina), and looks forward to taking on food-related projects that highlight our beautiful ingredients.
Leah Brooks
Leah Brooks is a cooking enthusiast, cookbook author and former director of a children’s cooking school in San Francisco. By making cooking fun, approachable and healthy, Leah is changing the way kids (and adults!) see food. Her food blog, Hands on Homemade, weaves seasonal ingrients on hand into flavorful, memorable meals. Leah looks forward to helping the community create delicious meals from the bounty of Skagit Valley farmstands.
Amber Phillips, MS RD
As a clinical dietitian at Island Hospital in Anacortes, Amber Phillips brings her passion for making fresh food approachable and nourishing to the healthcare market. She received her MS in Nutrition from Bastyr University, all the while, working as a farm assistant for a world-renowned farm-to-table restaurant. Amber taught nutrition and cooking to people of all ages, from toddlers to elders. Today, she continues educate and develop Skagit-grown, fresh food initiatives at Island Hospital.
David Peterson
For over 7 years, Executive Chef David Peterson of Max Dale’s Steak & Chop House has been preparing much more than award-wining steaks. He brings over 30 years of professional experience into the kitchen, 15 of those in the Pacfici Northwest. Chef David’s flavorful and fresh dishes continue to draw new fans and long-term patrons alike to Max Dale’s.
Albie Bjornberg
After 23 years in the food industry, Managing Partner of Nell Thorn, Albie Bjornberg has experience in nearly every facet of restaurant operations. Before directing restaurants in Canada and the U.S., he worked for 8 years in kitchens and graduated magna cum laude from Le Cordon Bleu in Portland, OR. Albie is also a certified sommelier, curating the extensive wine list at Nell Thorn – a bonus with both cooking and pairing tips!
Christy Fox
At Persimmon Bistro, co-owner and Chef Christy Fox weaves 30 years of professional experience into her fresh and popular meals. Highly committed to utilizing local ingredients, Chef Christy supports numerous Skagit producers in both her sweet and savory menu creations. Located at the Bow Sanctuary off of Chuckanut Drive.
Rachael Sobczak
Rachael Sobczak of Water Tank Bakery has been integral to the Skagit food and school garden community since the early 2000’s. As a baker and food educator, she offers hearth-style breads, cookies, and pastries, as well as wholesale options through her bakery. For four years she was the driving force behind the La Conner School District’s school garden and food education program – teaching all to know your food from seed to stomach! Jennie Goforth
From the ground up to the canning jar, Jennie Goforth educates Skagitonians on how to grow, cook and preserve food. She is the Program Coordinator for Ideas for Healthy Living at Washington State University Skagit County Extension, leading valuable programs to increase the health and resilience of the Skagit community. Her popular courses include Thriving on a Plant Based Diet and Food Preservation.
