Garden Mentors®

#GSVMemberMonday

Garden Mentors® founder Robin Haglund, is a garden coach and award-winning garden designer who is passionate about teaching others to garden successfully and joyfully. From her home base in Bay View, WA, Robin uses her expertise to help struggling gardeners learn to cultivate better gardening skills, gardening lifestyles, and better gardens in the Skagit Valley – and across the nation.

Two of Robin’s foundational teachings include the Garden Mentors® Gardening Academy self-guided online gardening lessons and the Garden Mentors® Herbal Happy Hour Garden-to-Glass Gardening & Mixology online class. In addition, Garden Mentors® offers 1:1 gardening consultation, garden coaching, and garden design services that are available in person throughout much of Western Skagit & Whatcom Counties as well as virtually for other locations outside of the area.

Through the years, Robin has helped thousands of gardeners grow their best life in their own gardens, whether large or small, and says that her mission is to teach you how to stop making expensive gardening mistakes & end your gardening frustrations. She has been featured on PBS, HGTV, The New York Times, Sunset, and the Seattle Times – just to name a few.

Robin says that a great way to start to grow your gardening skills is via the online gardening classes in the Garden Mentors Gardening Academy. Enrollment to these self-guided programs take place only a few times a year, so it is recommended to get on the mailing list. That way you’ll receive free emailed help while you wait and you’ll be first in line the moment that enrollment opens.

Robin will be presenting “Planting to Party” on March 24th during the Great Grow Along online Gardening Festival, which bills itself as the world’s largest online gardening festival. In this program, Robin will be drawing from her Garden Mentors® Herbal Happy Hour Garden-to-Glass Gardening & Mixology online course for garden to glass inspiration and fun. Following the program, she will be participating in a live Q&A with audience members. Robin is one of several speakers presenting live over the course of three weekends in March. Registration for the entire live program is free and available here.

In April, Robin will be speaking at the Washington State Fair for the annual Spring Fair. Tickets will be limited for this event and more information can be found on Garden Mentors® website as they become available.

We recently caught up with Robin to ask her what her favorite Skagit grown crop is. Here’s what she had to say:

“I’d be hard pressed to try to name just one favorite Skagit crop. I adore Waxwing Farm’s carrots. I’ll miss Blanchard Mountain Farm’s tomatoes. There’s nothing like a Bow Hill blueberry & in fact I use their products in many of my classes. Really, I just appreciate that my Skagit neighbors grow so much delicious diversity that I can access easily. That means living on “Starvation Ridge” doesn’t leave my family starving!”

With the warmth of spring fast approaching, we think Robin’s classes will be a welcome addition to add to any new or experienced gardener’s résumé this year. As a founding member of the program, we’re grateful to have Robin’s continued support of the Genuine Skagit Valley program and are happy to feature Garden Mentors® as this week’s GSV Member Monday highlight.

Happy Gardening! 🌱
